# RSC Token Burns

#### RSC Token Burns

ResearchCoin has a fixed maximum supply of 1,000,000,000 RSC. Tokens are emitted gradually to contributors (see [RSC Emission Schedule](/researchcoin/rsc-tokenomics/rsc-emission-schedule.md)), and from August 2025 a portion is permanently removed from circulation through burns.

A burn is an on-chain transfer to an address from which tokens can never be recovered. Burned RSC leaves circulating supply for good and cannot be re-issued.

#### RIP-23: Transaction Fee Burn

Burns were introduced through[ RIP-23](https://snapshot.org/#/s:researchhub.eth/proposal/0x544c159aebcd4e3205d74c81abf43ffb0a11a04950deb9f519c953b00c13d68b), approved by RSC holders on Snapshot in August 2025. Under it, 100% of transaction fees collected by the ResearchHub Foundation on platform activity: bounties, funding, tips and other fee-generating actions, are burned automatically on a weekly cadence.

Burns execute on Base. The amount is determined entirely by fees collected that week. Before RIP-23, these fees accrued to the Foundation treasury.
