# What is the ResearchHub Foundation?

The ResearchHub Foundation is the decentralized science (DeSci) organization behind ResearchCoin (RSC), the cryptocurrency that funds open science on ResearchHub.

The ResearchHub Foundation (RHF) is a decentralized science organization that created and stewards RSC, the native token of ResearchHub. RSC is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum and Base, used to fund research, pay peer reviewers, and govern the platform.

ResearchHub was co-founded by Brian Armstrong and Patrick Joyce to bring crypto to science. It’s an open-science platform where funders post research questions and researchers apply for funding, in crypto or cash.

**What RSC does:**

* **Funds research:** Anyone can fund research proposals in RSC, at lower fees than cash.
* **Pays peer reviewers:** Experts earn $150 in RSC for each accepted review of a funding proposal.
* **Powers the Endowment:** RSC held in a ResearchHub account earns daily Funding Credits that can only be spent funding science.
* **Governs the platform:** RSC holders vote on proposals that shape ResearchHub.
